VOL.
XL, NO. 7 JuLY, 2010
EVANSPEX ’10
It’s
right around the corner. The dates are
Saturday, Oct. 16 and Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, where it
has been for several years now.
Of course, that means it is time to get
out your exhibits to display during the show.
An Exhibition Entry Form is included with this newsletter.
Also included in this mailing is a
flier. It will help the club with
advertising the show if each member would find a public place to have the flier
displayed. Some suggestions are at
neighborhood postal stations, libraries, grocery store bulletins, etc. Please, ask for permission before posting the
handbills in businesses.
And, of course, it is time to determine
when you will be available to help out with the setting up and taking down the
exhibits or volunteering at the welcoming table outside the show room and/or
helping out in any of the many other ways.
Your contribution is vital in maintaining
this show as the longest-running annual stamp show in the state.
Remembering Paul Adam
The club lost another longtime stalwart last month
with the death of Paul Adam, who died Sunday, July 25, at the
Paul had been in the nursing home for several years and
wasn’t able to be active in the club, but he asked to remain on the mailing
list the newsletter so he could keep informed about the club.
When he was active he was a regular at the monthly
meetings and the annual Evanspex. He was president of the club for several
years, although no one is certain how many.
A visit to his house was like stepping into a treasurer trove of
philately.
His dedication to the club was noted when he was awarded
a life-time membership -- one of the few remaining.
He worked at Hercules Truck Body, Evansville Metals,
Reliance Plastics, Indian Industries and retired from Mel-Kay Electric. He also was active for years in the Boy
Scouts.
Our condolences to his three sons and
his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
